Mission
To co-develop and scale inclusive, participatory, and technology-enabled solutions in underserved geographies through partnerships with communities, government institutions, and development actors—aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Vision
A just, resilient, and inclusive society where tribal and marginalized communities live with dignity and have equitable access to opportunities, resources, and ecological security.
Udbaru Foundation was established in August 2024 as a not-for-profit entity (under provisions of the Indian Companies Act, 2013) committed to addressing the persistent development gaps that affect tribal and underserved communities across India. While decades of public programs and civil society efforts have contributed to progress, many forested and mining districts—particularly those with high tribal populations—remain systemically underserved.
Udbaru was born to operate in these complex environments, working collaboratively to co-create scalable, participatory, and sustainable development models. It is backed by a founding team and advisory board with over 35 years of experience each across government, donor agencies, multilateral development banks, philanthropic foundations, and premier NGOs. This makes Udbaru uniquely positioned to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with both community needs and national development priorities.
Core Values
-
Equity: Work with the principle and commitment to equity and equality.
-
Impact: Designing interventions with measurable ecological and social outcomes.
-
Collaboration: Building partnerships with government, NGOs, corporates, academia and community-led/based institutions.
-
Sustainability: Embedding climate resilience, nature-based solutions, regenerative practices, and ecosystem restoration across all interventions.
OUR VALUE PROPOSITION
Udbaru Foundation brings together policy insight, field implementation capacity, and technical rigour. We are capable of mobilizing India’s best-in-market subject matter experts and domain professionals to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions anywhere in the country. Our ability to work seamlessly across regions especially in last-mile, fragile, and tribal geographies—positions us as a credible strategic partner for donors, governments, and global consulting firms.
This moment is especially compelling: The Government of India and several state governments are making unprecedented investments in tribal welfare, nutrition, climate adaptation, rural infrastructure, and digital empowerment—particularly in aspirational districts. Udbaru intends to align with these investments and co-develop truthful, outcome-oriented, and scalable impact initiatives.
